All about Tony O'Rourke
After spending ten years in the Merchant Navy, Tony O'Rourke has built a fascinating career in television, radio and new media.

Since 1990, he has been a travel news presenter, BBC local radio reporter, BBC breakfast show presenter, co-owner of a successful new media company, a voice artist, TV news presenter, quirky television reporter, television presenter, television producer, a BBC national radio reporter with Radio Five Live and a holiday reporter on Jazz FM's travel show.

Most recently Tony has been presenting the rush hour travel news in vision on London's ITV1.

Tony's specialist subject areas include quirky '…and finally' reports, computers and the Internet, travel and transport. He finds himself in his element when appearing live on radio or TV. In fact, most of Tony's broadcasting work over the last ten years has been live.

Driving around Southern England in his BBC radio car was an excellent grounding for live work. "You'd arrive at your next job, put up the mast, and three minutes later you'd be on air. You really had to think on your feet in local radio."

One of the most exciting points of Tony's career so far, was his time as a television reporter at Channel One Television in London, where he was also the quirky presenter of their very successful 'Animal Shelter' programme. Unfortunately, the station closed down towards the end of 1998 - through no fault of Tony's… honest!

He has also appeared in the BBC sitcoms, "2.4 Children", Heartburn Hotel" and "My Hero".

ITN News Direct RadioAs well as being a news presenter on ITN News Direct Radio and on LBC News radio, Tony also presented Travel News for London on London ITV1 and nationally on Channel 5 and the ITN TV News Channel, which is exciting too - isn't it?
